Pomp and Glamour at MilkMan Brand Launch.

Partners, suppliers, customers and well-wishers were treated to an evening of cocktails, food and yoghurt dessert during the event to officially launch the MilkMan brand at Jazzville in Bugolobi.


MilkMan yoghurt is the first product that has been launched under the MilkMan brand and is currently available in all major supermarkets in Kampala in four main flavors – Strawberry, Mango, Vanilla and Plain – in both 450g family size and 170g individual size. The yoghurt will be followed by milk that is to be launched in the near future.

Mr. Eyal Jones, the Vital Capital Fund Chief Executive Officer, thanked all the suppliers, local farmers and the customers for showing support for this new brand.

“Today is a very special day to us because it marks the completion of a two-year journey that we embarked on with Tomosi’s Dairy – a USD $13 million impact investment that gave birth to Vital Tomosi’s Dairy,” he said, adding that high-tech machinery and state-of-the-art technology has been employed at the facility which also houses modern storage facilities and advanced laboratories in order to taste all the products to ensure that they are of good quality.

Speaking during the launch, Ms. Noa Hameiri, the Chief Marketing Officer thanked all the guests for honoring the invitation to come and celebrate the official launch of the MilkMan brand.

“Milkman is a unique combination of old and new, heritage and progress, centuries of cattle keeping culture and ultra-modern dairy farming. It is the result of a transformation from long lasting heritage to advanced technology and modern practices. All of our yoghurt is made from natural ingredients – no preservatives, no artificial colors and flavors- in order to create the healthiest, best quality and most authentic products that can be achieved,” she said.

During the launch event, guests were treated to a sumptuous BBQ dinner, cocktails and live band music from the Code 9 band. Guests were also treated to dessert that comprised of the different MilkMan yoghurt flavors.

Airtel Uganda launches 2016 Airtel FUFA Awards to take place on 2nd December.

The 2016 Airtel FUFA awards; aimed at honoring the excellence of Ugandan footballers was launched on Monday at Serena Hotel Kampala.

Airtel Uganda, the largest supporter of football in Uganda and official sponsor of the Uganda Cranes is the official sponsor of the awards; giving UGX 100,000,000 to towards the organization of the awards’ ceremony.


This year’s awards will see Uganda’s stopper Denis Onyango battle it out with Uganda’s lethal forward Farouk Miya in the Male Footballer of the year category. Other players battling for the same award are, KCCA and Uganda Cranes left back, Joseph Ochaya, new Kid on the scene, Onduparaka’s Shaban Mohammed and Vipers forward Erisa Sekisambu

Speaking at the launch of the 2016 Airtel Uganda Marketing Director Mr. Indrajeet Kumar Singh, expressed enthusiasm at the launch of the awards and reiterated the Telecom Company’s commitment to the development and growth of Ugandan football.

“Airtel Uganda is deeply involved in football at all levels in Uganda; from the Airtel Rising Stars, Buganda Masaza cup to the Uganda Cranes National team. It is therefore fitting that we go ahead to award this football talent that we nurture from the grassroots level.” Indrajeet added.

“We extend our gratitude to FUFA who have given us continuous support in our efforts to elevate the game of football in this country. Our recent achievements in this game clearly illustrate that the ladies and gentlemen whose talent and hard work have gone into reaching these achievements deserve to be recognized and rewarded and we are honored to be part of this process,” he concluded.

According to the FUFA president, Eng. Moses Magogo, “This year has been a great year to us Ugandans, we qualified for the 2017 African Cup of Nations games and we have had a great run in the World Cup qualifiers. These awards are befitting for our players.”

Magogo concluded by encouraging Ugandans to vigorously participate in the Airtel FUFA Awards’ voting process in order to ensure that their favorite players are celebrated and awarded.

Ugandans were treated to an experience that left many revelers dubbing the Kool & The Gang live in Kampala concert as the concert of the year.

Powered by Tusker Malt Lager and organised by Talent Africa Group and Silk Events, the biggest disco themed production in Uganda’s history, was held at Kololo Airstrip grounds and lived up to the hype that it had been accorded.


Dressed in a 70s style themed dress code, revelers turned up with friends to dance and relive the 70s, 80s and early 90s which were some of the career highlights of the legendary Kool & The Gang band that has been making music for more than 50 years.

Kool & The Gang had promised to give Ugandans a highly energized show and they indeed put up a show that will forever be remembered by the lucky Ugandans who were able to witness the band perform live at Kololo Airstrip grounds.


The night’s proceedings were kicked off by multitalented guitar maestro Myko Ouma who got the revelers in a somber mood and grooving to some of his best guitar strokes as well as Ugandan folk music.

Swahili Nation were second to perform to an already excited crowd that had been anticipating the group’s return. The group got the crowd to their feet with songs such as; Hakuna Matata, Nyama and Malaika among other old school throwback songs.


By the time Isaiah Katumwa got onto the stage, the crowd was already ripe for the night’s biggest stars. Isaiah who has performed on many big stages, delivered a performance that was highly applauded by the jazz lovers. He played his old and new tunes that had many jazz lovers swaying to his saxophone sounds.


The moment that the crowd had been waiting for came and one could visibly see the anticipation that had been going around for a while. Amidst loud cheers, the night’s main act, Kool & The Gang, came onto the stage led by Robert ‘Kool’ Bell himself.


The band opened up their performance with one of their notable hits ‘Hollywood Swing’, which immediately got the crowd on their feet dancing and singing along with the band.

By the time Kool & The Gang played ‘ladies night’, the revelers were now all on their feet and were moving along to the soothing beats of Quincy’s trombone. Among the songs performed included; Celebration, Cherish, Fresh, Jungle Boogie, Joanna, Too Hot, Lets Go Dancing, Summer Madness and Get Down On It.


The sound of Robert “Kool” Bell’s bass guitar coupled with Michael Ray’s trumpet with a touch of Curtis “Fitz” Williams’ guitar relayed the masterpiece of the night’s thrills.


“Kool & The Gang’s performance left all of us asking for more and more. We were indeed treated to one of our best experiences ever. This was a night that we will not forget. Some of the night’s highlights included Kool & The Gang’s drummer, Timothy Horton, who electrified the crowd during the band’s break and got them getting down with the sound of his drums.

Airtel Uganda Slashes Money Transfer Rates.

As the festive season draws closer, Airtel Uganda has announced a slash in the Person to person money transfer charges in a bid to enable its customers send money affordably throughout the festive season. Money transfer charges have been reduced to as low as UGX 180 – currently one of the lowest rates in the Uganda telecommunications industry.

Person to person money transfer also known as P2P is a transaction type where one mobile phone subscriber sends money to another directly using their mobile device.

According to Mr. Anwar Soussa, the Airtel Uganda Managing Director, the charges have been reduced not only to enable Ugandans send money to their friends and families throughout the festive season but also to enable them increase the profitability of their businesses by carrying out more affordable transactions.

“Airtel Uganda will continue to provide more affordable solutions to Ugandans as a way to show our appreciation to our customers for their support over the years. This festive season, we encourage whoever is not a part of the Smartphone network to join and take advantage of these new transaction charges,” he said.

“All our subscribers have to do is dial *185# and be able to send money for as low as UGX180,” he added.

Swahili Nation finalizes preparations for Kool & The Gang Concert on 12th November.

Sweden-based R&B and Hip hop music group, Swahili Nation, will be among the opening acts at this weekend’s Kool & The Gang live in Kampala Concert that will be at the Kololo Airstrip Grounds on the 12th November.

Powered by Tusker Malt Lager and organised by Talent Africa Group and Silk Events, the Kool & The Gang Concert is set to be the biggest disco themed production in Uganda’s history.

With Swahili Nation’s contagious groovy beats, Ugandans will not have a dull moment at the Kololo Airstrip grounds in what might be the most sought after music show of the year 2016.


Swahili Nation was founded back in 1990s by Kenyan brothers, Andrew Muturi, Robert Muturi and the late Tanzanian musician Cool James. It went on to sell numerous records both at home and abroad. However, Cool James later went solo in 1992, paving way for singer Wayne Beckford from London to join the band. Nigerian born Dr. Alban later signed them up with his Sweden-based Dr. Records in 1996 where the well-produced singles Nyama, Malaika, and Hakuna Matata (released in 1996) hit the music charts and received a nomination to Channel O Music Awards in South Africa in 2003.

Through the popularity of “Hakuna Matata” in East Africa, Swahili Nation has had a big influence on the use of the Swahili language in R&B and Hip hop which is now widely enjoyed by both Swahili and non-Swahili speaking communities.

Myko Ouma equips his Guitar for the Kool & The Gang live in Kampala Concert.

Guitar Maestro and Vocalist Myko Ouma will be one of the three Ugandan acts to look forward to at the upcoming Tusker Malt Lager sponsored Kool & The Gang live in Kampala concert at the Kololo Airstrip Grounds on the 12th of November.

Well known for his skill of integrating Ugandan folk music, the guitarist has developed a unique playing style informed by the traditional rhythms and melodies of Ugandan roots music.


The multi-talented Myko Ouma can play over 12 musical instruments and he has worked with several big name artistes both on stage and in studio. As the opening act for Kool & The Gang, this comes as a major boost in Ouma’s career who is currently in studio working on a new album. With more than two albums under his name Myko Ouma is certainly destined for bigger things.

He will be joined by Saxophonist Isaiah Katumwa and Hip Hop and R&B group Swahili Nation who will turn up the ante as revelers move to the good vibes before Kool & The Gang take to the stage.

Emirates to Fly Flagship A380 to Doha

Emirates announced that it will be upgrading one of its nine daily flights between Dubai and Doha to an Airbus A380 from 1 December 2016.

Emirates recently boosted its services to Doha with two additional flights, taking its total operations to nine daily services and making it the most served destination in the airline’s network. Demand has been steadily increasing between Dubai and Doha, with over 700,000 passengers carried since January of this year alone. Once launched, Doha will be Emirates’ 45th A380 destination to be served by the flagship aircraft. Doha will also become the world’s shortest scheduled A380 flight flying a distance of 379 kilometres each way.

Emirates Aircraft has 81 A380s in service and 61 pending delivery more than any other airline globally.

The upgrade to the A380 will provide Emirates the increased ability to serve growing demand for travel out of Doha. The double-decker has also proved tremendously popular with customers, and the upcoming service in December will give travellers from Qatar the chance to experience Emirates’ award-winning A380 onboard product and service to Dubai and seamless A380 journeys to some of Emirates most popular destinations. The deployment of the Emirates A380 operation was made possible through the support of the Qatari Authorities.

The Emirates A380 will be deployed as EK 841, which will depart Dubai at 0745hrs arriving in Doha at 0805hrs. The return flight, EK 842 will depart Doha at 0950hrs arriving in Dubai at 1200hrs. The timing of the A380 service will provide business and leisure travellers with an unrivalled A380 experience to Dubai as well as seamless connections of under four hours to some of the most popular onwards destinations serviced by the A380 including; New York, London Heathrow, Frankfurt, Manchester, Dusseldorf, Milan, Paris, Rome and Amsterdam.

The Emirates A380 that will be deployed to Doha will be set in a three-class configuration, with 429 seats in Economy Class on the main deck, 76 flat-bed seats in Business Class and 14 First Class Private Suites on the upper deck, enabling Emirates to serve increased premium demand to and from Doha. The increase in capacity between Dubai and Doha will help to grow trade inroads between the UAE and Qatar. The UAE is Qatar’s fifth largest trading partner with bilateral trade volumes reaching over USD $7 billion in 2015. These volumes will grow as more investment opportunities open up in the next few years as Dubai sets to host Expo 2020 in addition to Doha hosting the World Cup in 2022.

Northern Region boys and Buganda Region girls win Season Six of Airtel Rising Stars Nationals.

Season Six of the Airtel Rising Stars (ARS) National U-17 football tournament officially came to a close over the weekend at UTC play grounds in Lira district. Open to both boys and girls, the tournament featured sixteen teams from eight regions around the country competing to take the coveted national championships trophy home.


The boys’ finals saw Northern region outclass Buganda region selected players when they scored two goals as soon as the first half kicked off. The own goal from Buganda region’s Musa Jjagwe gave Northern region an early lead. Not even Karim Byaruhanga’s second half goal could save Buganda region who eventually lost 2 – 1 to the Northern select players.

Buganda region’s consolation came in the girls’ category when their selected team defeated Eastern region girls 1 – 0 to defend their title. The only goal of the game was scored by Josephine Ndagire in the first half.

Speaking at the end of the tournament, Airtel Uganda Public Relations Officer Faith Bugonzi said the ARS platform, over the past five seasons, has been a medium of talent discovery for young stars, some of whom have gone on to play for different clubs in Uganda as well as the national team.

“For the last six years, Airtel Uganda, through the Airtel Rising Stars U-17 boys’ and girls’ football programme, has remained focused to the goal of developing grassroots talent and we are committed to carrying on this programme for many more years,” she said.

The FUFA Vice President and Chief Guest, Mr Justus Mugisha lauded Airtel Uganda for this great initiative.


“I would like to thank Airtel Uganda for not being self-centred with their sponsorship. Many sponsors come to us and only want to sponsor the Uganda Cranes but Airtel Uganda has proven to be the number one supporter of football in Uganda by sponsoring the beautiful game from the grass roots all the way to the top,” he stated before advising the youngsters to front discipline above anything else for chances of prosperity in their respective careers.

The winners of the national tournament walked away with trophies, certificates, balls, kits and a cash prize of UGX 5,000,000 each. The first runners-up also took home trophies, certificates, and a cash prize of UGX 3,000,000 each.

Buganda region’s Tom Kakaire and Rashida Nankya were named ARS season six male and female MVPs respectively. They each took home a brand new mobile phone courtesy of Airtel Uganda.
