Madoxx delivers euphoric performance at Blankets and Wine XII Edition.

What other way would you better spend your Easter holidays than enjoy a fresh Tusker Malt Lager while dancing to good live music.

That is just what the 12th edition of Blankets and Wine Kampala provided on Sunday March 27, 2016 at the Uganda Museum grounds. The artiste line up was a blend of tingling musical genres; South Africa’s Uhuru unleashed the best of house music, Maddox on the other hand provided the ultimate lovers’ rock and reggae.

Sitenda, a former contestant in the Tusker Project Fame music competition and Sandra Suubi, winner of the Airtel Trace Music Star Search competition gave the audience a subtle but energetic vibe as the two ladies made their debuts at Blankets and Wine Kampala.

Sponsored by Tusker Malt Lager, Blankets and Wine Kampala has become the most sought after event on Uganda’s social calendar.

Speaking prior to the event, Alex Tusingwire, the Tusker Malt Lager Brand Manager said that they will continuously seek to raise the bar in terms of experience and artiste line up.

“Our aim as Tusker Malt Lager is to give consumers the freshest and most captivating experiences. 12 events down the road, the Blankets and Wine Kampala experience is only getting bigger. We shall always ensure that our consumers only get the best,” he noted.

As has become the norm, when the gates were opened at midday, lines quickly formed as families, friends and acquaintances aimed for perfect picnic spots at the museum grounds.

House of DJs has mastered the art of entertainment. It was evident from the crowd’s reaction that they were having a great time. The DJs mixed a variety of musical genres, ranging from the Old Skool to the latest chart bangers.

By the time Sandra Suubi stepped onto the stage, the audience was eager to keep dancing. Despite being her debut, Ssuubi didn’t show any signs of stage fright. In fact, she expertly belted out her lyrics in spritzing fashion. Her hit single, ‘Togwamu Suubi’ that got everyone dancing has gained good airplay and shows the potential in this courageous lady.

The more adventurous Sitenda who describes her sound as deep meaningful soul music infused with modern electro, afro, jazz, hiphop and RnB elements, showed the audience a glimpse of the good things in store. Belting out hits like Without You and Ella, Sitenda was flawless as the audience took in the soothing sounds. ‘She is an amazing, talented performer,’ some revelers could be heard saying.

Arguably Uganda’s true reggae ambassador, David Amon Maddox Ssemanda Ssematimba literally brought down the building. His classical musical style that talks about love, unity, social justice, peace and everyday life added spice to an already exciting evening.

Every song he performed was well received by the frenzied crowd who ecstatically sang along. He responded by ‘hitting’ them with mega sounds that have won him acclaim world over.

Hits such as Wowota, Omuyimbi, Omukwano, Namagembe, Munakyalo, among others kept the audience on its feet. He did a great job; setting the mood right for a musical explosion with South Africa’s Uhuru.

The kwaito/house music group famed for its Y-Tjukutja song left fans clamoring for more after putting up a sterling performance. The dynamic group is a compilation of young producers with a keen musical sensibility and an almost otherworldly ability to harness music and create sure-fire hits. The foursome are passionate producers who love to fuse African sound into their music.

The quartet managed to keep the audience on its feet…actually the audience couldn’t get enough of the men from South Africa.

David Amon Ssemanda Ssematimba a.k.a Madoxx, has promised to deliver a stunning performance at the upcoming 12th edition of Blankets and Wine Kampala.

Madoxx, who is greatly known for his classical reggae music, has been a favorite to many Uganda music lovers for more than a decade now. With some of his timeless hit songs such as “Namagembe”, “Irene” and “Munakyalo” among many others, Madoxx will be set out to excite the revelers at the Uganda rounds come the 27th March, 2016.

The “Y-tjukutja” famed stars, Uhuru Band, will be the main act at the 12th edition of Kampala’s Blankets and Wine. The MTV award winning band will also perform other hits which among them will be their “Khona” duet with Mafikizolo.

Maddox set to spice up Blankets & Wine’s Kampala 12th Edition.

Uganda’s most sought after social event, Blankets and Wine Kampala returns for its 12th edition this Easter Sunday, with a South African flavor and a blend of the best Ugandan soul music.

Slated for March 27, 2016, the Tusker Malt Lager sponsored event has a delectable line up of artistes; South African Band, Uhuru being the main act and will be joined by Maddox, Sitenda and Sandra Suubi.

Uhuru shot into limelight in 2013 after the release of the chart-topping single titled “Y-tjukutja”, which went on to be dubbed as the song of the year 2013 in South Africa. They produced and also featured in “Khona”, a duet with Mafikizolo which topped many music charts and won several awards in South Africa and beyond including the 2014 MTV Africa Music Awards.

David Amon Ssemanda Ssematimba, better known by his stage name, Maddox, will add spice to an already glittery nuance of artistes. Widely renowned for his classical reggae music that talks about love, unity, social justice, peace and everyday life, Maddox’s energetic performance will be a welcome addition to the revelers who will flock the Uganda Museum, Blankets and Wine Kampala’s proverbial home.

Emirates moves its Uganda offices to Kololo.

Emirates, a global connector of people and places, has moved its Kampala offices to a new more convenient and easy to access location in Kololo.

Formerly located at Kimathi Avenue, FNC building, Emirates’ Kampala offices are now located at Acacia place (Level 1) – plot 6, Kololo. The move was necessitated by the significant growth the company has realized in the last few years.

Speaking to the Emirates Country Manager, Mr. Jaber Mohammed, He said; “Our new office is larger than our previous offices and offers easy access to our services. Airtel Uganda in partnership with the Buganda Kingdom for the 3rd edition of Kabaka’s Birthday run.

Airtel Uganda has today announced its sponsorship of this year’s Kabaka birthday run which will be held on 10 April, 2016. This is the third edition of the run which began in 2014.

For the last two years, Buganda Kingdom has held an annual Kabaka Birthday Run to commemorate the Kabaka’s birthday and at the same time as a flag bearing fundraising vehicle towards the fistula eradication project run by the Kitovu Hospital.

Speaking on behalf of Buganda Kingdom; Owek. Peter Mayiga; Katikiro of Buganda Kingdom said the celebration of the Kabaka’s birthday with a sporting event is a great way for the people of the Buganda to celebrate their heritage.

He also noted the great contributions made to women’s health and the development of the country through the run. “The health of women is crucial to the development of our country. That is why the Kabaka’s package is given to the mothers of our nation. Last year, UGX 70million was given to Kitovu hospital to eradicate fistula disease,” Owek Mayiga said.

He commended the kingdom’s partners whose efforts have seen the event grow from strength to strength.

Participants in the Kabaka birthday run will ran 5Km, 10Km, and 21Km routes. The registration fee for Corporate companies is UGX 2,000,000/- while individual runners will pay UGX 10,000/-
