Airtel Uganda Offers Business Enterprise Solutions to Mbale High Value Customers.

Following a successful High Value Expo in Mbarara held earlier this year, Airtel Uganda decided to extend enterprise solutions to their High Value customers in the Eastern region through a one-day training held at Mbale Resort Hotel in Mbale.

Sorinolu said “We provide internet solutions that for instance, allow our customers to communicate via email and make Voice over Protocol calls. This is in addition to offering Leased Lines, Hosting or Co-location services, E1 Voice and PABX Services as well as APN (Access Point Name) Solutions for our clients whose needs consume less data.”

He went on to point out the wide range of customers for these services who include, Government institutions, financial service providers, NGOs as well as manufacturing and energy institutions. Oladapo also praised Airtel’s countrywide and global presence which allows clients to access the business solutions from anywhere in the country and in any of Airtel’s operative countries world-wide. “This makes it easy to work on the move and access data and information remotely.”

The Airtel Uganda Enterprise Expo will be held in other locations across the country where the Company will continue to showcase its product range as well as offer its customers and other business owners training to enable them support their organizations’ communication needs.

The ACCA Eastern Africa Members Convention

The much awaited Eastern Africa Members Convention will commence at the Speke Resort Hotel in Munyonyo.

Airtel Uganda Managing Director pays the Minister of State for Finance a courtesy visit.

Mr. Tom Gutjahr, the new Managing Director of Airtel Uganda, visited the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic development to meet with Eng. Dr. Ajedra Gabriel, the Minister of State for Finance in charge of Investment.

Flanked by the Airtel Uganda Legal Director, Mr. Dennis Kakonge, the Managing Director discussed different issues concerning the Telecom industry in Uganda at length with the minister.

Mr. Gutjahr promised to provide further access to mobile commerce services, whilst providing winning customer service support.

The Minister commended Mr. Gutjahr for the visit. “This underlines Airtel’s commitment to not only significantly improve access to telecoms services, but also to build and nurture relationships with the government and other regulatory bodies.”

Today, the inaugural Social Media Summit Uganda 2014 was announced. The summit which aims to bring together over 250 delegates from the government, SME, corporate and NGO sectors for learning and sharing how to use social media for was announced by The Directorate of Information and National Guidance in the office of the Prime Minister. The Social Media Summit – Uganda [#SMUg14] is an industry-led Summit & Networking Event and is a planned annual event with the inaugural summit scheduled to take place on the 26th November, 2014 at the Serena Hotel, Kampala.
The Directorate of Information and National Guidance, Mr. Simon Mayende in their speech said the Government of Uganda was very interested in the possibilities of using social media for service delivery and leveling hierarchies. He said: “The summit is billed to be a showcase of best practice in strategy, execution and ideation from within Uganda and across the world. The highly customized sessions will focus on how brands and indeed government entities could use social media for marketing and engagement, social reputation, community building and advocacy, while highlighting cutting edge techniques and technologies, innovation strategies, best practice solutions and monitoring and measurement tools to achieve desirable results.”
Speaking on behalf of Intensity Technologies Limited, the summit organizers, Collins Mugume, who is also the Summit Director said “We are so excited to be bringing an organized side and facet to the social media discussion. The thing is that everyone is using it but very few people are able to measure it, and most companies and organizations are scared of it. We want to debunk myths, teach best practices and show how brands that are successfully innovating, redefining and measuring their success in the social media space are doing it.”
Talking about some of the topics to be discussed at the summit Mr. Mugume added “We are focusing on a value-heavy package for all attendees and even more especially for the executive CEO breakfast where the focus will be to deliver succinct, incisive and game changing insights. And this is shown in the topics we will tackling. Some of the things we will talk about will include; Conversion and Return On Investment, Digital Integration with current platforms, the confluence between new media and traditional media and how to make the best of both worlds, and social media and service delivery; answering the last mile question and many other topics.”

Airtel Uganda shows support at the Neera Neera Concert.

Airtel Uganda came together with the Good Lyf Crew (Mowzey Radio and Weasal) to celebrate their achievements by taking part in the Neera Neera Concert. The concert that took place on 31st Oct, 2014 at the Freedom City Auditorium, was highlighted by Uganda’s top music sensations. Performing at the event was Airtel’s own Mun G, the self-proclaimed doctor Jose Chameleone, Bobi Wine, A Pass, Pallasoh and Red Banton amongst so many others.

At the event, Airtel Uganda gave out phones and tablets to various lucky winners who were able to dial 162 and take part in the Airtel Trace Music Star Competition. The day’s main event was later unveiled as the Good Lyf duo of Mowzey Radio and Weasal performed to the hundreds of fans that turned up at the concert. At the same event, the duo also endorsed the Airtel Trace Music Star Competition urging people to take part in the competition and stand a chance to win a music recording deal with A.Kon in the US.

CNOOC Uganda sponsors Bunyoro’s Amasaza Cup.

CNOOC Uganda Limited, an oil and gas company, today announced its sponsorship of the 2014 Bunyoro Amasaza Cup. This marks three years of the oil company’s support towards the tournament which attracts various counties in Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom. The month-long tournament will attract five districts in the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom including Kiryandongo, Bulliisa, Hoima, Masindi and Kibaale.

The announcement was made at a press conference graced by His Royal Majesty the King of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom; Dr. Solomon Gafabusa Iguru in Bullisa district.

Speaking at the press conference, the Head of the Corporate Affairs Department at CNOOC Uganda Limited; Ms. Wei Chai said CNOOC Uganda was honored to be part of the Amasaza Cup for the third year. “As we carry out our core activities in the Bunyoro region, it is important for us to give back to the residents in the area as a sign of appreciation for their support to our Company and employees.”

“When we began operations in Bunyoro, we made a conscious commitment to be part of all-round growth in our area of operation. And over the years, we have seen this commitment come to life through various local programs.”

“Sponsoring the Bunyoro Amasaza Cup for the third year is a demonstration of CNOOC Uganda’s dedication to the growth of sport in this region. Last year, the tournament was played across all sub counties in Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom and attracted 74 teams.
